The Christie Completist List (11/80)

At the Essenwood Saturday market in Durban, I could feel autumn was calmly approaching. On this day I had found The Dame of Crime. A battered and plain yellow hardcover stood out amongst a box of books, all looking like they saw centuries pass. I picked it up and saw no blurb, no description whatsoever, just the title “After the Funeral,” by Agatha Christie. I thought, “Hmm. Why not.” It was not until weeks later, when the world was stilled by the no-need-to-be-named pandemic and the summer sun was giving me an affectionate last goodbye on a towel by the pool, that I became a devout member of the Christie Club.

After listening to an all-time favourite podcast, Shedunnit, I was inspired by a couple who decided to go on an adventure! What is this voyage you may ask? Yep, you guessed it! To read every single one of her books, chronologically from 1920 to 1997.

Now, I won’t be going chronologically, but I am still excited to work toward the goal of being an Agatha Completist. I think I got this. See how I go and feel free to comment below!😉

Hey, Flavien! Wow! Thank you so much. Hmm…Let’s see. You can’t go wrong with The Murder of Roger Akroyd (It’s one of her earlier works and really gives you a sense of Poirot’s character). If you’re looking for a cozy village mystery, then definitely a Miss Marple, either Murder at the Vicarage or A Murder is Announced. Good luck and let me know what you think 😉
